Harare, February 16, 2018– The Unites States welcomes the official launch of Pizza Hut in Harare at Sam Levy’s Village. Representing the U.S. Embassy at the grand opening, Embassy Spokesperson and Public Affairs Officer David McGuire said the successful launch of Pizza Hut is a demonstration that American companies see attractive business prospects in Zimbabwe.
“We are excited to see Pizza Hut open here, and we hope that this is only one of a series of many positive developments as Zimbabwe seeks to increase U.S. and international business and investment,” said McGuire. He added that “the success of franchises and business partnerships with companies like Pizza Hut entices more business delegations to explore the market opportunities in Zimbabwe, and building those networks will pay dividends for years to come.”
However, he noted that additional investment will require Zimbabwe to show good governance, rule of law and respect for democratic rights.
Pizza Hut is a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc. and is the largest pizza chain in the United States. The company began 58 years ago in Wichita, Kansas, when two brothers borrowed $600 from their mom to start a pizzeria. What started out small has become the biggest pizza company in the world and today operates more than 16,000 restaurants in 100 countries serving innovative pizzas, traditional favorites like the signature Pan Pizza, and much more. //
