The U.S. Embassy in Harare encourages Zimbabwean companies to consider purchasing products, services, equipment and machinery from the United States. To facilitate these purchases, prospective buyers may consider requesting additional information on relevant American companies. To connect to U.S. suppliers, contact the U.S. Embassy economic section at: MuzuluJ@state.gov.
The U.S. Embassy further recommends that prospective purchasers of American equipment conduct basic background research on companies selling equipment before engaging in formal purchase agreements. One online source of information on American companies is the Better Business Bureau: www.bbb.org.
For those interested in purchasing tractor-trailer trucks from American companies, the U.S. Embassy recommends that prospective buyers work with retailers to obtain a certificate of road worthiness from the appropriate state motor vehicle authority (e.g. the Department of Motor Vehicles) prior to export of the vehicle. As with any purchase, the U.S. Embassy encourages buyers to consider more than just the price of products offered when selecting retailers. Buyers should also consider the quality of customer service and dispute resolution policies, among other factors.
The U.S. Embassy encourages prospective buyers to use the above resources before engaging in a transaction. The U.S. Embassy is unable to intervene in commercial disputes, should they arise.
