In the context of limited access to clean freshwater, a changing climate, evolving energy prices, and a growing depletion of finite natural resources, environmental stewardship is critical.
Embassy Harare is striving to be more environmentally conscious in our operations and processes. For example, check out this Earth Day 2015 video highlighting a few of our green initiatives, including:
- Converting 100% of embassy residential water heating to solar power
- Using 100% LED bulbs in our Public Affairs Section (PAS) and in our security lighting
- Reducing operational costs for pools and generators by more than 50%
Further, the U.S. Embassy Harare Green Team, comprised of diverse individuals with interests varying from wildlife and water conservation to recycling and energy efficiency, is helping to make our embassy community more sustainable by implementing the office and residential recycling program and introducing water-wise landscaping into our green spaces.
